Symbol

The symbol for second, or sacral chakra is a crescent moon symbolizing receptivity, femininity, and the womb. It is surrounded by six lotus petals.

 

Location

The Sacral Chakra is situated in the lower abdomen, 2 inches below the navel, in the area of the large intestines.

 

Aspects for the Sacral Chakra

Its main aspects are creativity, nurturance, manifestation and learning to let go. It relates to self respect and respect of our own boundaries, and respect of others.

Being the second chakra it is the first gateway in which the kundalini energy from the Root Chakra is transformed.
On a psychical level, It is the center of physical prowess, sexuality, and emotions. It is particularly profound in the females due to its location in relation to female reproductive organs. It is related to the kidneys, mammary glands, and the skin.

This is the chakra that is the energy center for sexuality and desire. Keeping this chakra open is essential in keeping in touch with your intuition and being radiant with warmth and compassion. When open, this chakra is a catapult for kundalini energy.

Kidneys, mammary glands, prostate, and the female reproductive systems are all influenced by the Sacral Chakra.

 

Balancing the Sacral Charka

Sound

The note that will stimulate the Sacral Chakra is D. Tibetan singing bowls that play the note of D are a good way to open the Sacral Chakra, although even a piano or a guitar playing the D note can produce the same effect. Also humming the word Home.

 

Scent

Jasmine and sandalwood are the scents associated with the Sacral Chakra. Placing jasmine flowers in your home, and the use of sandalwood or jasmine essential oils or incense are excellent for balancing the Sacral Chakra.

 

Physical Methods

Yoga and dancing with focus on the hip movements are a great way to open the Sacral Chakra. Expression of creativity and deep laughter can have opening effects as well.

 

Meditation technique

  • Put yourself in a comfortable seated position
  • Place your hands in y our lap with fingers interconnected and palms facing upward, as if you were cradling your Sacral Charka
  • Focus on the orange-red orb of energy, imagine it spinning, perfectly balanced in your body
  • Take slow deep breaths focusing on the orb of energy slowing opening, letting go, compassion the energy spinning it
