Warm chana dal served over white or brown rice provides year-round protein options. This popular nutty bean is split, husked small chickpea. Add extra water for a soupy version, or add rice and water for a chana dal kitcharee. Ingredients:1 1/2 cups chana dal beans
4 1/2 cups water
1 green pepper
1 sweet red pepper
1 small onion
1 T vegetable oil
1 t mustard powder
1 t turmeric powder
2 bay leaves
Directions:
Preparation time: 35 minutes Serves: 8
For Individual DoshasVatas: Enjoy with white rice and spicy oil.
Pittas: Enjoy with brown rice and ghee.
Kaphas: Enjoy with brown rice and a dash of cayenne.
